OUR PROJECTS

Jumbo Rainbow Trout Lake Stocking

Over the years, Tri-State Steelheaders has stocked at least one lake per year with either Jumbo or Triploid trout for local recreationalists.  For those who cannot travel, it is a benefit to have local fishing opportunities.  The locations have included Bennington Lake and Jefferson Park in Walla Walla and Lyons Park in College Place.  We currently provide funding to WDFW to support rearing the larger ‘jumbo’ size catchable trout to enhance this fishing experience.

Bennington and Jubilee Free Kids Fishing Days

Local volunteer Bill Selby started the Kids Fishing day by refurbishing rod and reel combos and helping kids hook their first fish, and encouraging our youth to experience the outdoors.  Bennington Lake Fishing Day occurs in early June during the Washington free fishing weekend.  The Jubilee Lake fishing day occurs in mid-July.

You can donate your old fishing rods and tackle boxes for us to provide to our local youth during these events.  Oftentimes, we are able to provide a child their first rod, reel and tackle box.  If you have equipment to donate contact Bill Selby directly at (509) 529-9266 or the Tri-State Steelheaders office.
