Kids’ Fishing Days

These family-oriented, free events occur at Bennington Lake and Jubilee Lake each year. The Bennington Lake event occurs on the free fishing weekend each June. The Jubilee Lake event occurs around mid-July, after the road to Jubilee Lake is clear of snow.

At the events, each kid under age 14 receives a “goodie bag” with hooks, weights, and a bobber to get them started for the day. The bags also include coupons for an entry in the Casting Contest and for a free hot dog and pop.

New fishing poles and other prizes are given to raffle winners and as prizes for the Casting Contest and Biggest Fish Contest.

Jumbo Trout

Since 2010, we have partnered with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to provide the jumbo trout program. When funding for this popular program was cut, we agreed to provide the cost of fish food necessary to continue the program. Approximately 4,000 jumbo trout (rainbow trout averaging 14 inches and 1-2 lbs each) are stocked each spring in more than 20 lakes in five different counties in SE Washington. These fish are raised at WDFW’s Tucannon Hatchery in Columbia county.

Our annual cost for this program is $5,600. We depend on donations from the community to help us cover this cost.

You can help us continue to provide Jumbo Trout with your donation!
